Jarrod Price, State President – State Officer Journal Entry February, 2008 The Washington Leadership Training Institute was a great experience. While in Washington D.C. we were able to see many of the monuments. We had the opportunity to visit Arlington National Cemetery where we witnessed the laying of a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. In addition, we also spoke to each of our legislators on the importance of Career and Technical classes and how important the funding from the Perkins Act is to their success. The Fall Leadership Conference was also an awesome experience. It was here that we stood before our members for the first time. We had a great time being together and teaching our members about the program of work. In December we got back together for round two of CTSO Training where we continued to work on our speaking skills and teamwork. In January in Dillard, GA, we planned for our presentation at the TIEGA Conference. While in north Georgia, we were able to visit Cataloochee Ski Resort which was a great experience. We had a blast skiing and hanging out with one another. June 10, 2007 Wow! Talk about a great weekend! This was by far the most fun I have had all summer. It was really surprising just how much fun it was. When I left on Thursday morning, I was expecting to just learn a lot of leadership skills, I had been taught over and over again at prior courses. I had no idea what was ahead of me. The speaker, Bryan Fiese, was great and really helped me improve my presentation skills, but he also made doing so exciting. The officer team also got to know each other very well. We had time to hang out and get to know each other as well as go through more physical activities and ropes courses to build trust in one another. This past weekend exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds and I am extremely glad to be a part of such a great team of officers.
