Dekalb HS of Technology North Celebrates Veterans Day

SkillsUSA members at DeKalb High School of Technology North celebrated Veterans Day on November 9, 2007 by having Lt. Col. Twala Mathis of the U.S. Army speak during a Veterans Day Assembly.  Lt. Col. Mathis is the first African American female to command a recruiting battalion on the east coast and the second African American female to command a recruiting battalion in the nation. 

She gave the students valuable information and commended veterans for contributing to freedom and the American way of life in the United States.  Lt. Col. Mathis was presented the SkillsUSA American Spirit Award for her accomplishments.
