SkillsUSA Georgia is extremely fortunate to have a very active Alumni Association! The following alumni traveled to Jekyll Island, Georgia to assist with the Fall Leadership Conference: Marcus Dennis, DeMarcus Dixon, Trae Cannon, Corey Smith, Ashley Hopkins, Carolyn Kimbrel, Whitney Mixon, Lyndsee Miles, Brandon Griffin, and Renaldo Key. While they were there, they were involved in numerous activities: meeting and greeting advisors and chapter members as they registered for the conference, preparing the conference facility for sessions, working with State Officers, preparing registration materials, facilitating leadership sessions and so much more! They work extremely hard during the conference but ask anyone of them and they will tell you that they love it! Their involvement with SkillsUSA Georgia extends over many years and the memories and friendships that they have developed along the way will last them for a lifetime.
Marcus Dennis has been involved in SkillsUSA for 8 years and is the focus of our Alumni Spotlight! Marcus is a 2003 graduate of Jones County High School and his advisor was Mr. Jon Liston. Marcus was enrolled in both Construction and Automotive Technology Program Areas. While in high school, Marcus served as the State South Region Vice President during school year 2001 – 2002 and was State President during school year 2002-2003. Marcus had this to say about his experiences with SkillsUSA, “SkillsUSA has changed my life in so many ways but the one thing that stands out the most is how it has made me such a well-rounded person. Going to Kansas City for Nationals and meeting so many people from different backgrounds and states really gave me a different outlook on my life. Today, after I finish college, there is no way that I would want to live in a place with zero diversity. I love SkillsUSA and I look forward to continuing such a strong relationship!”
