Kendrick HS Community Outreach Program

The Kendrick High School SkillsUSA chapter has been holding free computer training classes for the community called Click Into the Future. The project started on March 12 with training classes for children at the Mildred L. Terry Library. SkillsUSA members showed them how to set up email accounts, work in PowerPoint and search the internet.

On Saturday, March 29, SkillsUSA members held adult training classes at the Mildred L. Terry Library. Zia Green demonstrated how to use Microsoft Word. Jelisa Bass and Terry Lamb gave tips on how to use search engines. Tiera Farley helped the attendees setup an email account or showed the ones with an account how to manage them properly. Each attendee was awarded a certificate of participation.

The chapter is planning to hold training classes in April for middle school students. They will bused to Kendrick High School and have the opportunity to work in the graphic communications lab. This project is a great way for SkillsUSA members to promote career and technical education programs offered at Kendrick High School.

Check with the Mildred L. Terry Library for future training classes. For more information about SkillsUSA and career and technical education, contact Ms. Cheryl C. Rees at crees@mcsdga.net or 706-565-2977.
