February 1 is the deadline for the SkillsUSA National Conference Pin  competition. This event is open to ALL members of SkillsUSA. What a great way to have a student and advisor from your state recognized in front of a national audience. Rules are in the Membership Kit and are also posted on the SkillsUSA Web site at: http://www.skillsusa.org/compete/other.shtml.

SkillsUSA has once again teamed up with the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) to promote outstanding student achievement within career and technical education. SkillsUSA is offering two $1,000 scholarships through NTHS, and these will be awarded at the 2007 national conference. For more information, go to http://www.skillsusa.org/students/nths.shtml.
We are encouraging all SkillsUSA chapters to consider CareerSafe, a unique online program that addresses the high-priority safety training needs of young workers. A student who successfully completes the CareerSafe course plus an OSHA 10-Hour general industry or OSHA 10-Hour construction industry course, receives a 10-hour OSHA certified wallet card. This program qualifies for application of Perkins Funds, and the SkillsUSA Youth Development Foundation benefits with a donation for each SkillsUSA member who takes the training. You are welcome to put the CareerSafe information on your state Web site with a direct link to the CareerSafe site: http://www.CareerSafeOnline.com/.
