Natalie Sanders, State Reporter – State Officer Journal Entry

July, 2007

I don't even know where to begin. National’s was so awesome! When I first arrived I was a little scared, not knowing what to expect. Our first activity was the State Officer Training 101. When I saw all the officers from the other states, it was incredible. I made many friends and had tons of fun! I really enjoyed learning about how different states run their organization. The next activity was the opening ceremony, it was amazing! There were so many red jackets!
I competed in Job Skill Demo B, I was a little nervous at first, but once I finally finished my competition, I was relieved. The rest of the week I attended delegate sessions and met many new officer candidates. By the end of the week I felt like I had gained a whole new family. I was a little disappointed when I didn't place in my competition area. The whole experience itself was life changing. I was sad to see the week come to an end, but that just gives me much more to look forward to next year!

When I first arrived at the CTSO Leadership Training, I was very scared.  I really didn’t know what to expect.  As we all started talking and getting to know each other, we found  that we had so much in common.  It was like we already knew each other.  Throughout the weekend, we attended numerous classes on public speaking, which really caused people to step out of their comfort zone.  We also worked on some team building activities and had a ropes course challenge where we really had to work together and develop team work.  Even though we didn’t finish first, we gained a lot of trust and dedication for our team.  Overall, this weekend was great!  It is an experience I’ll never forget!
