NLSC Advisor Professional Development
SkillsUSA is excited to offer several unique advisor professional development opportunities during NLSC 2021. Read below to learn more about how you as an advisor can gain invaluable experience from the comfort of your virtual setting. All advisors and CTE teachers are welcome to register for any of the below opportunities. Please see registration details on the last page of the flyer.

Returning again to NLSC 2021,Engage will develop your social-emotional classroom management skills with Dr. Fay, CEO of Love and Logic, and Decca Knight, trained school counselor specializing in trauma-informed care and Love and Logic practitioner. Get ready to welcome your students back to school in the fall by developing essential skills to build high-quality relationships with them. School counselors will love this session as much as SkillsUSA advisors and CTE teachers!

NEW at the 2021 virtual National Leadership and Skills Conference: The Academy of Excellence in CTE and SkillsUSA! This conference is a body of several professional development opportunities available to NLSC registrants June 22 - 24. Key skill development for teachers and advisors are the focus of all of these professional development opportunities: chapter management, Career Essentials teacher certification, CTE program planning, classroom management, new advisor tools and more!

REGISTRATION STEPS

IMPORTANT: You will receive a $30 credit if you are ONLY attending this event and not registering as an advisor chaperoning NLSC contestants (Read Step 4 for clarification). Please closely follow the below steps to correctly register for this Professional Development opportunity.

STEP 1: After you have checked the box "YES" next to Attend Academy of Excellence a new screen will appear that lists each available session.

STEP 2: Click the drop-down menu in each session box to register for a specific day or time.
​
STEP 3: Click the More Info link for dates and times and a description of each session.
​
STEP 4: Choose "Add Optional State Fee Items" and choose Academy of Excellence Attendee. Since the National Leadership and Skills Conference registration fee is $125 for an advisor attending with a contestant, a person only attending as an Academy of Excellence Attendee will receive a $30 credit.

STEP 5: Click the down arrow key, choose 1 for Quantity, and click Save.

Being offered this year within the Academy of Excellence is the inaugural Transition to Teaching conference. Valued at $3,000, this conference provides teachers who do not have formal teacher preparatory training with an intensive experience to learn about lesson planning and the management of classrooms, laboratories and SkillsUSA chapters.
