Week 8: September 25

Program of Work Toolkit

This week, we are exploring the PoW Launch Activity Guide 1 Video Series (wow, what a mouthful!).

These videos complement the content in the Program of Work Launch Activity Guide 1. The videos in this series walk the advisor through how to accomplish the various activities. The videos include:

  • SkillsUSA Program of Work: Getting Started

  • Leadership Retreat

  • Local Business Goodwill Tour

  • Flowerbox Fundraiser

  • SkillsUSA Week

  • Canned Food Drive

  • Mock Interview

These videos are short in length and narrated by the wonderful and engaging Sylvia Phillips. If you appreciate video context rather than reading through a guide, then this is the resource for you!

You can access the Program of Work Toolkit here, in SkillsUSA Absorb.

If you have any trouble accessing the Program of Work Toolkit in Absorb, reach out to the Customer Care Team via email at customercare@skillsusa.org or call the Customer Care Team at 844-875-4557. We are excited to explore this resource with you!

Champions Rally

If you are attending the 2023 Champions Rally on October 6th, please note that there is a clear bag policy in effect again this year for the Georgia National Fairgrounds.

Clutch/wallet size bags 5”x7” or smaller, diaper bags and bags for medical supplies do not have to be clear. If anyone has a non-clear bag, they will have to take it back to the bus. Bags that are used to carry sensitive materials such as electronics and medical supplies do not have to be clear but may be subject to search. **Please note that drawstring gym bags that are not clear will not be allowed into the Fair.**

SkillsUSA Georgia and the Georgia National Fairgrounds will not have clear bags available at the gate for anyone who needs one.

Please ensure that your chapter follows the clear bag policy so that your entrance to the Fair is seamless and quick as possible.

CHARGE Officer Series: Episodes 7 & 8

Welcome back to the CHARGE Officer Series! Episode 7 guides chapter officers through identifying their personal contributions to team along with those of their teammates. After the quick video, chapter officers can complete the Activity Guide which helps officers identify what their strengths are and how they can use that as an asset in their team. This will help officers understand each other’s strengths and how to better work as a team.

Building on what they learned in Episode 7, chapter officers will explore Episode 8: Work Ethic as an Officer. This episode guides chapter officers around the work ethic required to run a successful local SkillsUSA chapter. After the animated video, chapter officers will complete the Activity Guide, which will ask them to answer questions and prompts such as:

  • What are your specific chapter officer responsibilities?

  • Describe a time when you applied a strong work ethic.

  • Develop a plan of how you will work hard and accomplish your goals.

  • As a team, discuss how you will stay motivated and maintain a strong work ethic.

You can find the Episode 7 Learning Journal here, and the video here.
